Weekend Racing Recap - Monday, June 10, 2013

Greetings! It was quite a mixed bag for weekend racing in terms of distance and terrain............. 5-ks, 10-ks, relays, trails, xc and a triathalon. The MCRRC competitive race team was represented well throughout the area this weekend.

Our team members ran strong at the June Bug XC 5-k. The xc courses will test your mettle without the added challenge of the elements.  The significant rain that had fallen throughout the day made for a sloppy, mud-riddled jaunt on Friday evening. It was akin to running a "tough mudder".

Below is a breakout of the June Bug race results:

Women
Kimberly Price - 7th overall female - 24:37 - She thought she was playing baseball in the major leagues as she slid across the finish line!

Men
Jordan Snyder  - 3rd overall - 18:44 - This seasoned gentleman can certainly fly!
Alex Booth - 6th overall-19:27
Taylor Williamson- 10th overall-20:00
Yukun Fung- 20th overall - 21:05

Runners were back at it on Saturday morning at Lawyers Have Heart 10-k. We have some great results from that race!

Women
Julie Sapper - 2nd Female Masters - 41:40- A great race for Julie!

Men
Miles Aitken - 19th overall - 35:19
Andrew Howard - 39th overall - 37:37

Additional Races
David Storper ran the EX2 Fountainhead Off-Road Half-Marathon yesterday in Fairfax Station, VA. He placed 4th overall. His approx time is 1:46 (the official time hasn't posted yet to web).   His finish was especially impressive given this was his second half-marathon ever (both off-road)!

Lisa Reichmann raced the Ironman Eagleman 70.3 in Cambridge, MD  and finished in 5:10:23.  She set a PR on the bike (2:39:11 for an average speed of 21.11 miles per hour) and finished the half marathon run in 1:38:31.

Last but certainly not least... Anna Savage ran in the Lake Tahoe Relay, which is a 7-person, 72 mile relay race around Lake Tahoe in both California and Nevada. She ran the 10.6 mile leg in 1:17:02, Her team came in 12th overall and 2nd place in the co-ed division in 8:52:45

Many thanks to everyone that reported back about their weekend racing.  Your recaps are enjoyable to read (so keep on sending them)!

Have a great week!

Lisa
